The Hans Wegner CH468 Chair designed in 1960, the Hans Wegner CH468 chair is a sculptural armchair that only Hans J. Wegner could have conceived. Its construction and upholstery provide a variety of comfortable sitting positions and excellent support for the lower and upper back, neck and shoulders. Wegner designed some of his easy chairs with large, curved backs that invite users into a protective shield. CH468 is a clear example of this, with a rounded silhouette that blends beautifully with distinctive, generous armrests. The chair’s legs in brushed stainless steel create a characteristic counterbalance to the chair’s roomy upholstered body. The seat cushion contains a mixture of down and foam, giving excellent comfort while at the same time maintaining its shape. The interior frame is handmade, entirely in wood, by Carl Hansen & Son’s experienced craftsmen. The rounded back, in form-pressed wood veneer, is one of the largest form-pressed wood veneer pieces in modern furniture, and makes the chair’s construction especially stable.
