The Wishbone Chair(Y chair) or Alban Dining Chair is a very well known and popular chair designed in 1950 by Hans Wegner. The Wishbone "Y" chair as it is often called due to the shape of the back, is a light chair and a relatively small piece of furniture. The curved hind legs and the semicircular top rail together with the elegant Y-back endows the chair with a gracious and welcoming air.The Wishbone or Y Chair acquired its name due to the 'Y' shaped back and with its measured use of materials is a light, sculptural dining chair which offers good back support and a comfortable sitting position.
The Wishbone chair or Alban Dining Chair is available in a variety of finishes and woods. The paper-cord seat can be either black or natural and is available with a cushion. The Wishbone continues to be an iconic piece of design and is featured in numeours galleries including MoMa in New York and the recently renovated Art Gallery of Ontario by Architect Frank Gehry.
